BEN LYNCH DIED MAR. 21

Benjamin N. Lynch, Minturn resident passed away in Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Mar. 21, following a heart attack, which occurred ten days previous at Minturn.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Lynch, he was born Aug. 11, 1882 in Madison, Wis. His parents moved to Leadville, Colo. In 1897, where he grew to manhood.

On April 16, 1906, Mr. Lynch was married to Margaret V. Rumley in Leadville. To this union were born eight children, five of whom survive.

Mr. Lynch worked in the mines at Leadville until 1928 when he moved to Gilman, working for the Empire Zinc Co. there, later moving to Minturn, where he was employed on the D&RGW railroad until his retirement.

Earlier this month Mr. Lynch returned to Minturn after the winter in California with his sister Caroline Tague at Long Beach; also visiting his daughters, Pansy in Seal Beach and Bonita in San Diego and a son, Lary. He returned to Minturn March 5, and became ill March 12. He died in Valley View hospital March 21.

Mr. Lynch is survived by three daughters; Mrs. D. W. Boyd of Seal Beach, Calif., Mrs. L. B. Ledford, San Diego; Miss Lenora Lunch of Honolulu and two sons; Ben K. of Pagosa Springs, Colo, and L. W. of San Diego; 11 grandchildren; and two sisters; Mrs. Jim Tague, Long beach and Catherine Burnett of Minturn.

Funeral Services were held at the Presbyterian church in Minturn March 25. Services were conducted by Rev. Wm. Frey of St. George’s Episcopal Church of Leadville.

The hymns “Rock of Ages” and “Abide With Me” were sung by Mrs. Thomas Reed, Mrs. Emmett Flaherty and Mrs. Walten Owen, accompanied by Mrs. Howard Bayer.

Pallbearers were Hans Peterson, Bert Winters, Harold Wister, Elmer Owens, Kenneth Matheson and Ralph Meyer, honorary pallbearers were Everett Sandy, Robert Ellis and W. L. Wilson.

Interment was in the Minturn cemetery and directed by Moyahan-O’Malia Mortuary of Leadville. [Published in the “Eagle Valley Enterprise,” March 28th, 1957. – MDP]
