Celebration of Life Service will be 10 am, Friday, July 16, 2004 at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor with Rev. Walter J. Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the Taylor City Cemetery.
Mary Goetz Groba was born on April 22, 1914 to Fredrich and Minnie (Wernli) Goetz in Travis County, Texas. She grew up on a farm in Coupland, Texas. Mary married Ernest Groba on December 2, 1934. She and her husband were engaged in farming all of their lives in the Taylor area and surrounding counties. In 1991, Mary suffered a stroke and both she and her husband resided with their daughter and her family at Taylor Lake Village, Texas until her death. She was a devout christian, loving mother and grandmother. Her greatest joy in her later years, was the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Taylor, numerous church circles and the Sons of Hermann Lodge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fredrich and Minnie Wernli Goetz; a brother, William Goetz and a sister, Elizabeth Gamberi.
Her survivors include her husband of 69 years, Ernest Groba; a daughter, Kathryn Davis and husband Bill, all of Taylor Lake Village, TX.; three grandchildren, Amber Lounsbury, Emrie Wilkes, and Trae Davis; nine great grandchildren, Ashley, Angie, Ana, Frank, Sam, Rachel, Colton, Walker and Cannon; also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
