In loving memory of Kathryn Marie Groba Davis, who passed in spirit the afternoon of November 10, 2012, at the age of 68. Kathy spent the last days of her life journey surrounded by her loving husband William Lynn "Billy" Davis III, their children Amber Lounsbury, Emrie Wilkes and William Lynn "Trae" Davis IV and grandchildren, Ashley Farris, Angie Viscariello, Ana Viscariello, Frank Viscariello, Sam Lounsbury, Rachel Wilkes, Colton Wilkes, William "Walker" Davis and Cannon Davis and great grandchildren, Carter and Tucker Farris. Many other close family members and life-long friends and hundreds more joined the family with thoughts, prayers, comfort and love from all over as she fought a courageous battle with cancer.

Kathy was born on June 10, 1944 in Taylor, Texas the only child to Ernest and Mary Groba. She spent her primary school years in Taylor public schools and graduated from Taylor High School in 1962, where she was class favorite her freshman year, elected most popular her sophomore year, and served as a cheerleader her junior and senior years. She also participated on the girls' basketball and volleyball teams. She was FFA sweetheart and adored by all that knew her from that class of '62. After graduation Kathy went to Nixon Clay Business College in Austin.

On August 11, 1962, Kathy married her high school sweetheart Billy Davis and started their life together in College Station, Texas so that Bill could finish his mechanical engineering degree. While there they were blessed with Amber Marie and Emrie Ann born in 1963 and 1964, respectively. Their time in College Station was memorable to them both and a true test of their love, faith and strength they had for each other, while having to raise two young children while Bill finished his engineering degree. Bill graduated from Texas A&M in 1966 and took his first job in Wichita, Kansas for Koch Industries.

They returned to Texas in 1968 and were again blessed with a son, Trae in 1969. Born in Kingsville, Texas the loving family grew and prospered in God's grace. Bill worked for Celanese at that time while Kathy then started attending school at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi and Texas A&I University in Kingsville, with a passion on becoming a registered nurse. The family spent 5 years in Kingsville where they were blessed by meeting many wonderful and lifelong friends.

Bill was hired as the project manager at Southwest Chemical and Plastics in 1974 and moved the family to Seabrook, Texas. Kathy prioritized time with her family and school, attending San Jacinto Nursing School. While attending nursing school Kathy was an example to us all on her determination even while raising a family, she exceled in her studies, maintaining an "A" average. Kathy graduated top of her nursing class on August 22, 1976, a very proud day for her, her family, and her parents, who attended the graduation ceremony that day. Kathy took several positions thru out her career, starting at M.D. Anderson in Houston as a nurse in ICU and held various positions in the Bay Area, ending her nursing career in Texas City at the Mainland Center Hospital as the floor head nurse.

Amber and Emrie were very involved in volleyball and basketball and Trae was an all-around athlete and competed in just about every sport during their junior high and high school years. During this time Kathy and Bill took pride in watching their children play sports and never missed an athletic event. Seabrook was home and Kathy loved her life there with wonderful neighbors, colleagues and friends she had gained during these years. Kathy enjoyed gardening and painting, and was a wonderful cook and prepared many meals with love for her family and many friends and family that visited.

Kathy spent almost 14 years after retiring from nursing to take care of her mom and dad, Ernest and Mary Groba, when they both became unable to keep up with the farm and take care of themselves. She did what came so natural, taking care of so many with so much love. Her parents lived to be 91 and 94 and Kathy did everything to ensure that they were given the best care possible.

As the family grew, Kathy and Bill enjoyed over the years following the nine (9) grandchildren and the sports they played in high school and university. Many days were spent traveling to Argyle, Texas to see Rachel and Colton, College Station to see Walker and Cannon and Friendswood to watch Ashley, Angie, Ana, Frank and Sam. They had the pleasure of seeing Ashley play soccer at McNeese State in Louisiana and Ana at Houston Baptist University. Kathy loved visiting Taylor and Austin and would go back often to check the farms and visit with old family friends.

Although Kathy was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer earlier this year in October, her courage was great. She had an incredible will to live and loved every day as if her last. Kathy put her family first and never let one day go by without making sure they knew she loved them with all her heart. Kathy and Bill just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past August. She was blessed to have known and lived her life with her best friend Bill for over 50 years. They spent every moment together or with their three children and appreciating what the Lord provided.

Kathy had a wonderful energy and touched the lives of all she met. She had a sparkle in her eye, a warm smile and comforting manner and carried herself with charm and grace. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She will never be forgotten.

A Memorial Service will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, November 16, 2012, at Providence Funeral Home.
