OBIT:

Mr. A. B. Lee, well-known and long-time resident of Miner County died at his home in this city on Tuesday of this week following a long illness.

Mr. Lee had been ill for the past year following an operation and his health slowly failed until the time of his death. Funeral services were held at the Howard Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 27. Burial was made in the Carthage Cemetery.

Mr. Lee was well known throughout the county. He farmed near Carthage for many years and served as County Commissioner from that district for a number of years. He served as County Welfare Director with offices in Howard for the past twenty years. He was active in civic affairs, both in Howard and in his former home at Carthage.

He is survived by his widow and three children: Morlan of Rapid City; Robert of Lime Springs, Ia. and Lois Nalley of Atwater, California.

Arthur B. Lee, 74, died June 24 at his home in Howard. He was a former Miner County Commissioner for 16 years and director of public welfare in Miner County for 20 years.

Funeral services will be held at the Willoughby Funeral Home, Thursday at 1:30 p.m. and at the Howard Methodist Church at 2 pm. The Rev. Richard Jackson, Carthage, will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Carthage.

Arthur B. Lee was born at Fremont, Iowa, January 3, 1883. He operated an undertaking business there until 1910 when he moved to a farm at Carthage and continued the same profession until he moved to Howard.

He is survivied by his widow, Mina, of Howard; two sons, Morlan B. Lee, Rapid City; Robert E. Lee, Lima Springs, Iowa; one daugther, Mrs. Roy Malley, Atwater, California; two grandchildren and two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. One son, Major Clinton M. Lee died in France in 1944, during World War II and one daughter died in infancy.
