Elvie Irene Sullivan McGee, a retired East Baton Rouge Parish school bus driver, passed away peacefully at home after a lengthy illness and went to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 10, 2007. Mrs. McGee was born on Oct. 20, 1917, in Calhoun. A longtime resident of Baton Rouge, she was a member of Parkview Baptist Church for more than 50 years and attended the Dorcas Sunday school class. She loved her family and especially the time she shared with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Nana," "Grandma" or sometimes "Turkey."

Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12, and continues at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, until the service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Merlin Liverman, associate pastor to Senior Adults at Parkview. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Mrs. McGee is survived by sons, Roy L. McGee and wife Georgia, of Lake Charles, and Larry L. McGee and wife Margaret, of Clinton; daughters, Linda McLellan and husband Richard, of Baton Rouge, and Marsha Hebert and husband David, of West Monroe; brothers, Ivy Sullivan and John L. Sullivan; sisters, Fran Kirkley, Ann Dungan, Mary Taylor and Bea Williams; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Philip L. McGee; brothers, James Sullivan and H.G. Sullivan; sister, Gladys Van den Kooy; and granddaughter, Leigh Ann McGee.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Todd Hebert, Chad McGee, Roy Leslie McGee Jr., Ray McLellan, Rusty McLellan and Ryan McLellan.

Special thanks to the loving care provided by "Hospice In His Care" and especially nurses Alicia and Shelley during the past year.

Donations may be made to Parkview Baptist Church.
