Robert Dawson Smith, 81, of 100 Parkview Ave. died Tuesday, August 18, 2020, in Lewis Gale Medical Center at Salem, VA.

Mr. Smith was born October 26, 1938, in Alleghany County a son of the late Marcus Gilmer and Ona Katherine Ferguson Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Craft Smith, five brothers and one sister.

Surviving are his son; his grandson; his great granddaughter; one brother; one sister; two brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 22, 2020, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Price officiating.

Interment will be made in Locust Bottom Cemetery.

The family will receive their friends Friday evening from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM at Arritt Funeral Home.

The family suggests that donations in his name be made to Faith Baptist Church.
