Orton Harrington Holloway , son of Jasper and Nancy Holloway, was born July 17, 1881 in Hamilton Township, Harrison county, Mo., and departed this life Feb 23, 1952, at his home near Lone Rock, Mo. The greater part of his life was spent in the locality where he was born with the exception of a few years he lived in Colo. During the time he lived in Colorado, he met Miss Estella Rubida whom he married. To this union a son, Orvon, was born who engaged in farming with his father for many years. For many years Mr Holloway was in poor health and was constant sufferer, but bore his suffering with patience and fortitude. He was one of 6 brothers and 2 sisters. His father, mother and sisters preceded him in death. There remain to mourn his passing his faithful and devoted wife; his son, Orvon, and wife Ruth; 5 brothers; Leonard of Lamoni, John of Dunlap, Newton of Lamoni, Scott and James of Kirkman, Ia, 2 grandchildren; Doretta and Max of the home. These with several nephews and nieces, a large number of cousins and other relatives and friends will miss him in the family circle. He was a firm believer in God even though not identifying himself with any church. As he face the end, he did so fearlessly and made some preparation for the change that he knew must come. The last rites were held in the Lone Rock church with Elder Wilber Prall preaching the sermon and Elder Arthur Lane in charge. Burial was in Lone Rock cemetery.
