Darrell J Nelson, 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 31, 2006 at his home. He was born on March 31, 1925 in Perry, Utah, a son of Jamesy Sheldon and Vivian Crowther Nelson. He served in World War II in the US Navy as a radioman. Darrell married Grace Forsgren on February 26, 1946 in the Logan LDS Temple. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he held various callings. He most recently served as the Branch clerk at the Pioneer Care Center. Darrell owned and operated Darrell's Glass and Paint from 1957 to 2004 where he met and served many friends from the community. Surviving are his wife, Grace of Brigham City; seven children, Judy (Larry) Kupfer, South Weber; Jackie (Steven) Nelson, Brigham City; Marianne (Jim) Brown, Mendon; Gordon (Cindi) Nelson; Michael (Terri) Nelson; Rodney (Becky) Nelson; Melanie Rohde all of Brigham City; 22 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; five siblings, Dee (Linda) Nelson, Burley, Idaho; Myrna (Don) Ellis, Brigham City; Max (Lois) Nelson, Perry; Carl (Shirley) Nelson, Salem, Oregon; Julia Waters, Brigham City. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jack, one sister, Renee Bailey; daughter-in-law, Pauli Nelson; son-in- law, Clint Holden, grandson, Cary Wharton and one great grand daughter, Janessa Merrill. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in Darrell's memory to Alpine Hospice, 95 North 100 East, Brigham City, Utah 84302. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brigham City 10th Ward LDS Chapel, 145 West 500 South. Family will greet friends on Wednesday 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Brigham City 10th Ward and on Thursday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the VFW Post 1695 Honor Guard.
