Gilbert Virgil Skinner, Jr., 76, loving husband of Grace Rogers Skinner for over 52 years, died July 10, 2020 at the University of Kentucky Hospital. Born Sept 19, 1943 in Cynthiana, KY, he was the son of the late Martin and Vivian Flora Clifford. Mr. Skinner was a proud U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was retired from IBM/Lexmark, and worked after retirement at Kroger in the meat department, a lot tech at a Ford dealership and at the Lexington Legends stadium. He was a member of Jessamine Christian Church. He enjoyed UK basketball and most of all, he loved his family, including his nieces, nephew, and cousins. Survivors other than his wife include a daughter, Tamera Skinner (Rick) Bale; grandson, Ryan Bale; and three brothers, Lowell Clifford, David (Cheryl) Clifford, and Jeff (Laura) Clifford. In addition to parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lou Bishop and Rosella Hayes; and two brothers, Jerry Clifford and Thomas Clifford. Funeral services will be held 1:30 pm Tues., July 14, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. by Minister Wally Rendel. Burial will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:30 pm Tues. until the service time at the funeral home.
