Funeral services for Rev. Sam G. Garrard, age 89, of Rogers, AR (formerly of Winona), were held December 27, 2002 at First Baptist Church in Winona with Rev. Hulon Evans officiating and Rev. Johnny Walker assisting. Burial was held at Oakwood Cemetery with Oliver Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Rev. Garrard died December 21, 2002 at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale, AR. He was a retired minister for Bethany Church of God and a member of the Winona Church of God.
Survivors include his daughters, Patricia Lee Garrard Howard of French Camp and Myrtis Anita Garrard Walters of Winona; sons, Sam G. Garrard, Jr. of Henderson, NV and William Gary Garrard of Garfield, AR; sisters, Lucy Sproles, Clara Estelle Ballard and Anice Lorene Jackson, all of Greenwood and Myrtis Pauline Reid of Winona; brother, William Douglas (Dub) Garrard and Charlie Holman Garrard, both of Itta Bena; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren.
Rev. Garrard was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Moses Levi Garrard; his wife, Mrs. Myrtis Mims Garrard; his son, Douglas Eugene Garrard; two brothers and one sister.
Pallbearers were Trey Garrard, Tony Garrard, Gary Garrard, Jr., John Garrard, Brad Garrard, Tommy Howard II, Craig Howard and Charles Allen.
