She was born at Dryfork, to Daniel B. and Anzina Vandevender Harper, the ninth of 13 children.

On June 19, 1937, she was married to the late Walter R. Swineford.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Bill) Miller and Jeanne (Larry) Worley both of Ashland, Ohio; grandchildren, Mark and Trina Miller of Colorado, Jim and Birgit Miller of Texas, David and Judy Miller of Brunswick, Ohio, Todd and Janet Barr of Nova, Ohio, Kandee and Mike Evans of Greenwich, Ohio and Shawn and Vanessa Barr of Jeromesville, Ohio; 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Walter, on March 5, 2001; her parents; and all her siblings.

She was a charter member of Orange Grange, a past member of the Social Gleaners Club and also a 4-H leader. She retired from Ashland Rubber Products in 1992. She loved working, baking pies and made the best Texas sheet cake.

Mary was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Ashland, Ohio, since 1938.
