John was born in 1843 in Herkimer County, New York and died Jan. 19, 1900. He married to Eliza (Comstock) Koester on Feb. 19, 1871 in Poweshiek, Iowa. Eliza died Feb. 15, 1922 and was buried in Carthage, Missouri at the Oak Hill Cemetery according to her Death Record. They were blessed with one daughter Laura who married L. W. Coleman and she died about 1900.
