Obituary for Emma Rupe
PULASKI: Emma "Daisy" May Strawhacker Rupe, 77, of Pulaski, Iowa died March 3, 2011 at her home. She was born May 16, 1933 in Joy, Illinois to Virgil and Ruth Boyce Bailey. She married Roy E. Strawhacker in 1952. She later married Frank Rupe in 1991. He preceded her in death on March 23, 1999. She worked as a manager at C Mart in Bloomfield, the Ordinance Plant in Burlington and at Norris Asphalt in Ottumwa. She had served as president of the Eagles Club in Bloomfield and was a volunteer with the Iowa Share program. Daisy enjoyed making ceramic sculptures and painting them. She is survived by six daughters; Cindy Strawhacker, Dixie (Mike) Garmon, Terry (Steve) Appenzeller and Carla Strawhacker all of Bloomfield, Debra (Carlan) Frymoyer and Candy (David) Thaxton both of Pulaski; a son, Douglas Strawhacker of Vienna, Illinois; four step-sons, Frank (Juansetta) Rupe, Dean (Brenda) Rupe, Danny (Patty) Rupe and Dave (Shari) Rupe all of Ottumwa; 34 grandchildren; 72 great grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a son, Steven Strawhacker; a grandson, Michael Strawhacker; a very-special-friend, Tom Prevo Jr.; two brothers, Bob and Allen Bailey; and five sisters, Mary Ellis, Dorothy Sneddon, Virgilene Kammerer, Nancy Bailey and Betty Foor. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 7, 2011 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating. Cremation will follow the service and scattering of the cremains will take place at a later date. Visitation will begin after 9:00 a.m. on Monday with the family present to greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to Hospice of Wapello and Davis Counties and to the family.
