Cindy Lou Strawhacker, 63, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away October 26, 2016 at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center. She was born April 21, 1953 in Muscatine, Iowa to Roy Elburn and Emma “Daisy” May Bailey Stawhacker. She graduated from Davis County High School in 1971. Cindy was a dietician at the Bloomfield Care Center for 27 years. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, and going way overboard at Christmas time. She also collected teddy bears and liked to watch the Food Network, old fashioned scary movies, and Christmas movies. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Thomas Strawhacker of Fairfield, Iowa; two grandchildren, Michael Strawhacker, Madison Strawhacker; five sisters, Dixie (Mike) Garmon, Terry Appenzeller, Candy Thaxton all of Bloomfield, Iowa, Carla Strawhacker of Burlington, Iowa, Debra (Carlan) Frymoyer of Pulaski, Iowa; brother, Douglas Strawhacker of Vienna, Illinois; four step-brothers, Frank “Sonny” Rupe, Dean Rupe, Danny (Patty) Rupe, Dave (Shari) Rupe all of Ottumwa; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-fathers, Tom Prevo Jr., Frank Rupe; brother, Steven Strawhacker; daughter-in-law, Beth Strawhacker; two sisters-in-law, Juansetta Rupe, Brenda Rupe; and a brother-in-law, David Thaxton.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the family present to greet friends from 2-4:00 p.m. Cremation will follow the visitation and no service is planned. A memorial has been established for her grandchildren’s college education.
