James E Bailey, 86, of rural Floris died at 3:15 A.M. Sunday July 16, 2017, at home. He was born May 31, 1931, at Joy, Illinois to Virgil and Ruth Boyce Bailey and married Helen Foor August 10, 1951, in Muscatine. She died September 21, 2015. Jim graduate from Aledo, Illinois high school and attended Indian Hills Community College. He spent his active life farming, served as Floris Postmaster and as a Davis County Supervisor and a as a member of the Davis County Foster Care Review Board. He was a 50-year Mason in Celestial Lodge No. 413 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons at Douds and had been active in the former Troy, Pulaski and Bloomfield Masonic lodges, serving as Worshipful Master and was a Past Patron in the Order of Eastern Star chapters in Troy, Pulaski and Bloomfield and had been a Rainbow Dad in Pulaski. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War was wounded in action and receive several medals including the Purple Heart. He was a lifetime member of Bloomfield Veterans of Foreign Wars post and had been a member of Bloomfield Rotary Club.

Surviving are two sons, Mike Bailey (Denise) of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Mark Bailey (Deborah) of Eldon, a daughter, Kristy Bailey-Smith (George) of Des Moines, 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a sister, Ruth Wonders of Morning Sun, Iowa. He was preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters.

In accord with his wishes his body has been cremated and no services are planned. Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice and mailed to the family at 210 Church Street, Eldon Iowa 52554. Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua is assisting the family.
