The son of Jacob Henry Crum and Barbara Ann Huffer. He married Lona Berry Reed.

BENJAMIN W. CRUM

Benjamin W. Crum, died in his home on the Spring Hill road at twelve-forty-five o'clock Thursday morning. He had been in bad health for a year and had been confined to his bed for six weeks. He was born in Augusta county and his sixty-third birthday would have been celebrated Saturday this week.
Few men had a wider acquaintance in Staunton and Augusta and adjoining counties than did Mr. Crum. For forty years, he dealt in food, fertilizer, and lumber, having quarters on Johnson street, where he was one of the group of local businessmen who preserved their identity in the midst of the rapidly shifting and ever changing business scene. The present Crum establishment in on Bridge street. Kindly in his relations with all men, Mr. Crum won friends by the score, and held them, and his passing will be sincerely mourned.
Mr. Crum was a life-long member of the St. Peters Lutheran church, of Churchville, and it is from this church that the funeral services will be held this afternoon at three o'clock with the pastor, the Rev. Albert J. Shumate, officiating, assisted by the Rev. C. M. Teufel, D.D., of Christ Lutheran Church, Staunton, and the Rev. David F. Glover, St. Paul's United Brethern church, also of this city. Burial will be in Churchville.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Lona B. Crum, and the following brothers and sisters: T.J., S.N., and William Crum, of this county; and J.A. Crum of Pennsylvania; and Mrs. Hattie Boward, Mrs. John Props, and Mrs. J. H. Landes, of Augusta County; Mrs. John Crum, of Indiana. There are a number of nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be L. B. Bosserman, W. C. Stoutamyer, Campbell Pancake, Dr. C. B. Ovenschin, T. P. Ryers, and W. H. Hoy; honorary: J. H. Rankin, W. F. Dudley, Paul Spitler, M. S. Driver, W. O. Harris, G. Finley Brand, R. M. Gregory, A. Leo Knowles, Judge J. Harry May, J. N. Jackson, W. P. Hall, Guss Dull, C. D. Harper, Hugh C. Braxton, J. C. Stickley, Chas. S. Hunter, Sr., Clive Hutcheson, Hugh McClue, and G. Blosser.
Mr. Crum was a member of Pythian lodge, and faternal brothers will conduct services at the cemetery.
