Adair Max, 74, of Brimfield, died unexpectedly Tuesday in McCray Hospital. He was born October 2, 1919 in Wolf Lake to Hobert and Mamie (Boner) Adair. On July 17, 1947 he married Mary E. McCarty, who survives. A lifetime area resident, he was a graduate of Albion High School. He was a veteran of WW II and had served as Noble County recorder 8 years and as an Orange Twp precinct committeeman for many years. He had worked for Azar's Commissary 10 years and retired in 1984 from the Indiana State Toll Road. He was a member of Brimfield United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 86, Kendallville. Surviving also are a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Marcia) Garrett of Brimfield; 4 grandchildren, Douglas Garrett of Germany, Tamara, Bryan and James Garrett of Brimfield; 3 great-grandchildren, Kyle Garrett of Brimfield and Logan and Kaitlyn Garrett of Germany. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry. Funeral Saturday in Hite Funeral Home, Kendallville. Burial, Orange Cemetery.
