Services were held for longtime resident General Washington (G.W.) Roberts, 70-year old Haskell County Farmer. He died Monday at Stamford Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.

Born in Coleman County on August 02, 1917, to George Albert Roberts, Sr and Mary Fynetta (Gowens) Roberts, Mr Roberts had been a resident of Haskell County since 1933.
He married Doris Marie Banks in Haskell on October 09, 1937. He was a member of East Side Baptist Church.

G.W. is survived by his loving wife, Doris Marie Roberts.

Daughter, Doris Jean Roberts McMeans of Haskell, TX
Two sons, Bobby Ray Roberts and Albert Lee Roberts, both of Haskell, TX.
A neice, Linda Christene Bass, lived with them at times.

Three sisters, Rose Logan of Abilene, TX
Artie Price of McKinney, TX
Mary Fowler of Cisco, TX
One brother, George Roberts of Old Glory, TX.

He was a special PaPa to his eight grandchildren:
Ricky, Randy & Melissa Phemister
Tammy & Jimmy Roberts
Tonya, Lee & Chad Roberts
Also, seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Roberts' service was at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, at East Side Baptist Church with the Rev Darrell Feemster and Rev James Densman officiating. Burial was in Willow Cemetery, Haskell, TX, under direction of Holden-McCauley.

Pallbearers were H.V. Woodard, Charles Swinson, Frank Jenkins, Ben McGee, Kenneth Lane, Gaston Tidrow, Charles Blair and Jim Simpson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bill, Jimmy, and baby Cecil.
Sisters Rachel and Delia (died from a rattlesnake bite at age nine).
