Christina Dingwall was born at Lemlair, Kiltearn Parish, Ross-shire (now Highland, the second of fourteen siblings in her family. She was named after the first born, also Christina, who died in infancy. Her father was a agricultural laborer and farm servant. She worked as a domestic servant and cook.
Christina immigrated to the US arriving New York 8 December 1891 aboard the S.S. Anchoria. She married John Finnegan, an Irish immigrant, in 1896. John worked as a waiter, porter and a door man. Christina died at her home in Woodside, Queens Borough, New York, of a cerebral hemorrhage. Her son William was informant for her death record that also records burial in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
