John Dingwall was born at Leatachruich, Dingwall Parish, Ross and Cromarty (now Highland). His father was a farmer. John worked as a an agricultural laborer and farm servant, retiring as such. His occupation took him to various locations as his census returns indicate. He died at 22 Mill Street, Dingwall of partial paralysis, hemiplegia. His son Muroch "Murdo" was informant for his death record.
