Violet Hinkle, 96, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Columbus. She was a resident of Columbus.

She was born Feb. 7, 1905, in Brown County. Her parents were William and Emma (Wray) Wirey. She married Roy Hinkle. He preceded her in death April 4, 1983. Survivors include a daughter, Lois Crooke of Columbus; two grandsons, Randy Crooke of Mandan, N.D., and Alan Crooke of Muir, Mich.; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Alexander and Lillian Wirey.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of First Christian Church of Greensburg.

The Rev. Robert Eversull will conduct a graveside service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Arrangements are being handled by Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh.

Violet Hinkle, 96, of 25th Street died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, at Hickory Creek Nursing Home.

Mrs. Hinkle was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church of Greensburg.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh with the Rev. Robert Eversull officiating. There will be no calling.

Arrangements were made by Eskew–Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh.

Mrs. Hinkle was born Feb. 7, 1905, in Brown County, the daughter of William and Emma Wray Wirey. She married Roy Hinkle. He died April 4, 1983.
