Ralph O. Wirey dies Sunday in home

Ralph O. Wirey, age 77, a resident of route two Greenwood died Sunday in his home. He was a native of Brown County born there Dec. 18, 1893, the son of William and Emma Wray Wirey.

Masonic services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Tolin, Herr and Singleton Memorial Chapel, 1308 Prospect Street, Indianapolis. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Edinburg.

Mr. Wirey married Dollie Gillaspy April 8, 1923. A son William A. Wirey of Indianapolis, a daughter Mrs. John Robert Briggs of Greenwood; a step-son Tom Marshall of California; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother Floyd Wirey of Edinburg and sisters Mrs. Thomas Alexander and Mrs. Edith Rule of Franklin, Mrs. Roy Hinkle of Greensburg and Mrs. Lillian Wirey of Edinburg all survive. A sister is deceased.

His memberships include the Southport Christian Church, Southport Masonic Lodge, the Eastern Star and American Legion.

RALPH WIREY DIES

Ralph O. Wirey, 78, former resident of Edinburg and brother of Floyd Wirey and Miss Lillian Wirey of Edinburg, died Sunday at his home, Greenwood, rural route.

Services were held this morning at Tolen, Herr and Singleton Memorial Chapel in Indianapolis with burial following at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh where Masonic services were held at the graveside.

Mr. Wirey, born December 18, 1893, in Brown County, was the son of William and Emma Wray Wirey and was married April 8, 1913, to the former Dolly Gillaspy who preceded in death.

Mr. Wirey was a retired maintenance man at the Southport Masonic Temple. He was a member of the Southport Christian Church, Southport Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star and was a member of the American Legion being a veteran of World War I.

Surviving are a son, William A. Wirey of Indianapolis; a daughter, Mrs. John Robert Briggs of Greenwood; a stepson, Tom Marshall of Covina, California, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, Floyd Wirey of Edinburg; four sisters, Mrs. Thomas Alexander and Mrs. Edith Rule of Franklin, Mrs. Roy Hinkle of Greensburg; and Miss Lillian Wirey of Edinburg.
