A native of Lawrence County, and a son of the late Seth and Mary Shields Boling, was born Nov. 25, 1885. He was a retired railroad employee, a timber cutter and member of the Christian Church.
Surviving are 8 children, Grant Boling, Mrs. Thelma Kohagen, Harry Boling, Don Boling, Mrs. Viola Marting, MRs. Helen Helt and Earl Junior Boling. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs Amy Pferrer and brother, Sylvester Boling; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
