Dies At 79
Willard Call, 79, Bountiful, died Tuesday at 1:45 a. m. of a cerebral hemorrhage at his residence.
He was born April 25, 1866, at Bountiful a son of Anson and Margaretta Clark Call, who were among the first Mormon pioneers of Davis county. Mr. Call received his early education in Davis county and was a graduate of the University of Deseret.
He taught school in Davis county for a number of years.
He served the L D S church as a missionary to England for two and a half years. He also served as a member of the Bountiful L D S ward bishopric for six years. He served as justice of the peace in Bountiful, deputy sheriff of Davis county, and was instrumental in establishing the national guard unit of Bountiful.
He was a veteran of the Spanish-American war. He and his family spent 10 years in the L D S colonies in Mexico, during which time he served as president of the M I A, superintendent of the Sunday school and as a member of the stake high council. For 10 years he served as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake temple. He was always an active ward teacher and at the time of his death he was active as a member in the high priest quorum.
He had two sons and 16 grandsons in the armed services. During his recent illness and at the time of his death, he was surrounded by most of the members of his large family.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon in the Bountiful first ward chapel by G. Evan Taylor, bishop. Burial was in Bountiful city cemetery
