Mrs. Johnson was born March 1, 1918, in Red Bluff, Calif., to Forrest Hathaway. and Minerva (Miller) Hathaway. The family moved to Fallon, Nev., and later to Rogue River, Ore., where she graduated from Rogue River High School. On Aug. 1, 1939, she married Frank Johnson in Caldwell, Idaho.
The couple lived in Parma, Idaho, where they owned and operated a cattle and wheat ranch. In 1954, the family moved to Pendleton, where Mrs. Johnson worked for Harris Pine Mills from 1955-1961. In 1961, the couple moved to Milton-Freewater, where they owned and operated a cherry orchard. They later divorced.
Mrs. Johnson lived in Milton-Freewater until moving to Walla Walla to be closer to family. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting, gardening, raising flowers, cooking, and sewing.
She was a member of Milton Seventh-day Adventist Church and a former member of the Friendship Club and Community Service Center.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Darrel and Karen of Walla Walla; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Leslie Johnson in 2002; and a daughter, Joyce Atkins in 2003.
The memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main St., Milton-Freewater. Burial will be private in Milton-Freewater Cemetery.
