Walter was born to Clyde Joseph Lindsey and Mary Pearl Moore Lindsey. He married Shirley Catton on Feb. 28, 1959, in Lacon, Ill. She survives.

Also surviving are a son, Kevin (& Melanie) Lindsey of Smithfield; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Art (& June) Lindsey of Bartonville; and two sisters, Kay Jarangan of Texas and Betty (& Jim) Messersmith of California.

Preceding him in death was a stepdaughter, five brothers and three sisters.

He had lived in Princeville for 28 years and in Smithfield the past six years.

He retired from AMT Ambulance Service of Peoria in 1995.

He was a World War II Navy veteran and was a member of Cuba American Legion and Bushnell VFW.

Cremation rites will be accorded.
