Matilda Hollenbeck, daughter of Lawrence and Sarah Ann (Lewis) Hollenbeck. Matilda was married to Benjamin Franklin [Frank] Pierce, in Clark County, Illinois, on 13 June 1841. They also went by the last name, Pearce. Frank died, in their home on 29 November 1877, in East Portland, of cancer at aged 57 years, 04 months and 04 days.

After his death she was married to, John Tuttle.

Please, see the photo of them on her husband memorial. Also, the obituary that claims her first husband died while crossing the Plains is wrong as he died in 1877. It was included because it mentions their children. The State of Oregon officially proclaimed these early settlers of the Oregon Territory as Early Oregonians. The Oregon Territory was made up of Oregon, Washington, part of Montana and Idaho.
