John Strother was most likely named after his mother's brother, John Strother Bradley. He never married. In 1880 his parents' household included Patsy's niece Fannie Clark, daughter of Darius Bradley. Later in 1900 John was living with John and Fannie Clark Herrington in Fayette County, KY, farming in the country. In 1910, John was living with a Maybrier family in Fleming County on US 68, most likely near Fairview, KY. He cannot be found in 1920 but he died in 1925 at the home of Ben Wagoner in Nicholas County. They surely did not know John's family as they left this info blank on his death certificate. His great-niece Fannie Ritchie was still living in Nicholas County. The place, "Donnell's Scales" was a voting precinct and not necessarily a town where anyone lived. John's grave is unmarked in the Carlisle Cemetery. John shot and killed his brother, Richard to save his father's life in 1881. Richard was believed to have had a mental disability. His father's will appointed John's brother, Allen as John's guardian upon James' death.
