Francis "Frank" Marion Brewer was a Civil War soldier who served in the same Union or Federal unit as his brother-in-law, Ambrose Barnett, which was Company A, 16th Regiment KY Volunteers. He was wounded in the right wrist during a battle in Resaca, GA.

Frank married Sarah Adeline Barnett on Aug 10, 1871 in Robertson Co, KY. By 1900 they had moved to Lewis Co, KY. Frank stated in his Civil War pension record that they did not marry until after the birth of John.

He noted that he lived in Mt. Olivet, KY in 1865, then moved to Illinois for a time in the fall of 1865; then back to KY 1867-8. He was a farmer for most of his life. A clipping from a Portsmouth newspaper dated 1892 notes he was a mail carrier in the Esculapia area when his horse fell on him and injured him but not fatally.

He died seven years after Sarah of a cerebral hemorrhage. In addition to the children linked here, he and Sarah had another daughter, Martha Ann Brewer Upton (b. Sep 16, 1882), who died prior to April 1915, likely in Oklahoma.
