Janet C. Rhoades, 72, of rural Maynard, Iowa died on Saturday afternoon, September 21, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.
Funeral Service: 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church, Maynard, with Rev. John Kerr officiating.
Visitation: 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Maynard and for one hour before services at the church on Wednesday.
Inurnment: Long Grove Cemetery, Maynard, Iowa, on Thursday morning.
A Memorial Fund has been established.

Janet Catherine Hannan was born on February 13, 1947 in Oelwein, Iowa, the daughter of Clement Michael & Margaret Jane (Oakes) Hannan. She graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School in the class of 1965. Janet married Jack Ohl on June 18, 1966 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein. Three children were born to this union, Kim, Lynn and Raymond. Janet and Jack later divorced. Janet married Joe William “Bill” Rhoades on March 23, 1979 at the First Presbyterian Church in Maynard. Bill brought his daughter, Tammy, into the new family. Bill and Janet were blessed with two children, Billy and Jody. Janet worked at Prairie View as a medication aid for ten years. Throughout her marriage to Bill, Janet was a true farmer’s wife and “did it all.” She enjoyed writing poems, decorating, cooking, gardening, working on the farm, the family dog and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Janet was a caregiver all of her life. She was a hard-working woman with a big heart. She loved everyone she met. Janet will be remembered by her smile, big heart and her compassionate nature.

Many Nieces and Nephews including a Special Niece: Debbie Dodds.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; 5 brothers: Wayne Hannan, Joe Hannan, David Hannan, Richard Hannan, & James Hannan; 3 Sisters: Marge Miller, Kay Bouck & Elaine Britten, In-Laws: Virginia Hannan, Patricia Hannan and Bob Lamphier, 2 nephews: Michael Smith & Jerry Hannan, father-in-law and mother-in-law: Joe & Dora Rhoades and a special friend: Gay Andersen.
