Died Friday, March 11, 1994, at her residence on Hogan Plantation, Columbia following an extended illness. She was 98, born in Wellington, Ohio, on Jan. 31, 1896. She was a homemaker. Visiting at the home of her son, John J. McKeithen, on Hogan Plantation, off of Highway 4 East, Columbia, noon until 2 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services at Grayson United Methodist Church, Grayson, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, conducted by the Revs. J.P. "Bud" McKeithen, Andy Hamilton, and former District Superintendent Douglas L. McGuire. Interment will follow in the McKeithen Family Plot, at Welcome Home Cemetery, Grayson, under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home of Columbia.

Survived by a son, former Governor of Louisiana John J. McKeithen, Hogan Plantation, Columbia; two daughters, Mrs. Janette McKeithen Meredith, Columbia, and Mrs. DeEtte McKeithen Williams, Baton Rouge; three brothers, W.R. "Bill" Eglin, Baton Rouge, and Milton Eglin and Richard Eglin, both of Alexandria; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Johnston, Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Jay McKeithen, Secretary of State: Fox McKeithen, Rebecca Hamilton, Melissa Cummings, Pam Plummer, Jenny Borders, Robert F. Meredith III, Dr. Mark Meredith, Richard "Dick" Meredith, Scott Meredith, Dr. James Eglin McKeithen, Mrs. Mary DeEtte Rucker, Mrs. Jane Meredith, W.W. "Bill" Williams, Dr. John Eglin Williams, Brockner Williams, Stan Williams and Ben Williams; and 45 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by husband, J.J. McKeithen Sr.; and a son, Dr. Arthur Eglin McKeithen.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

She attended La. Tech University, and taught home economics at Grayson High School for several years. She was an active church worker, and served as president of the Women's Division of the Methodist Protestant Church for the State, continuing as vice president after the formation of the United Methodist Church.
