The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, March 6, 1919; pg. 1

Some few weeks ago F.B. Cope was taken to a hospital at Lincoln for treatment and his many business associates and friends hoped that he might soon return restored to health but it could not be so. On last Saturday word came that Mr. Cope had died. Mrs. Cope was with her husband at the time of his death, she having gone up a few days before. The body was brought home Sunday night and funeral services were conducted by Rev. V.E. Shirley at the Christian church on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock. Interment was made in the Nelson cemetery (sic).

Frank B. Cope was born at Marshalltown, Iowa, August 15, 1854, and died at Lincoln, Nebraska, March 1, 1919, being 64 years, 6 months and 10 days old.

He was married to Sarah A. Matter at Collier, Kansas, in 1884. To them were born seven children. Four sons have passed on before him. Three daughters, Mrs. Inez Lena VanValin, Mrs. Ethel Kauffman, and Olive, remain to comfort the mother.

At a meeting held in Prairie Center school house near Mt. Clare, twenty-seven years ago, Frank was converted and for years was one of the chief supporters of the work at Mt. Clare.

Mr. and Mrs. Cope came to Nuckolls county (sic) thirty years ago and with the exception of two years spent at Falls City, have resided in this county, first at Mt. Clare and then at Nelson. Frank served three terms as county surveyor, being elected twice without opposition. He leaves the wife, three daughters, four brothers, two sisters, four grand children and many sincere friends to mourn his death.
