Obituary of Eugene G. Cope Who Passed Away Nov. 5th

Eugene Grant Cope, son of Joseph and Sarah Cope, was born January 6, 1865, and passed away Tuesday, November 5, 1946, at about 1 o'clock in the afternoon, at his home in Ruthven, Iowa.
Mr. Cope was born near Albion, Iowa, on a farm in Marshall county, Iowa. He was one of eight children, there being three sisters: Alice, Minnie and Amy; and four brothers, Frank, George, Will and Oliver.
He was a life-long Iowan, for he with his family moved from Albion to State Center, where he worked for a time, and then moved to Clear Lake. From there he moved to Ruthven about the year 1906, where he has lived the remainder of his life. He worked for Western Electric telephone company as a lineman for many years. Since retiring from his regular vocation, he has done carpentering work in and around Ruthven.
Mr. Cope was united in marriage to Carrie May Hubbard July 3, 1907, at Emmetsburg.
He experienced a severe heart attack Sunday morning, and failed rapidly until his death on Tuesday.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Carrie Cope, two sister-in-laws, several neices and nephews, and three step sons, Rex, Roy, and Rue. His parents, brothers and sisters preceeded him in death.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Friday afternoon, with Rev. Paul Potter in charge of the services. Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Capener, sang, "Sometime, Somewhere" and "God Will Take Care of You" with Mrs. Paul Potter at the organ.
Burial took place in Crown Hill cemetery.
