Sandy H. Kelley was the last child born to Isaac N. & Elizabeth F. (Lannom) Kelley. Sandy was stationed at Camp Zachary Taylor Kentucky. This was a WWI training camp. Camp Taylor could house more than 47,000 troops. With so many men confined in a relatively small space, the flu epidemic struck with devastating results in 1918 killing more than 800 soldiers & sending another 13,000 to the hospital. Sandy was one of the men that died of the flu at the camp. I have several letters that he wrote his sister, Arvilla Parrish, while he was at Camp Taylor. He leaves his mother and siblings: William P. Kelley, Arvilla Parrish, Mary Francis James, America Lee Simmons, and Minnie Alice Cash. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers: Joel B. Kelley and Calvin W. Kelley. He served in MEM. 3, CO. 1, B.N. 159th Depot Brigade.
