Mary Francis "Shug" (Kelley) James was born March 10, 1878, the 5th child of Isaac Kelley and Elizabeth Francis Lannom. She married Samuel James on April 15, 1900 in Johnson County, IL. She had children: Merle, Herman, Melvin, Clyde, Clarence and Almeda. Herman, Melvin and Clarence died young.
