Oscar S. Baird Sr., former county superintendent of Clinton County's schools, died yesterday morning at 8:50 o'clock at a Lafayette hospital where he was entered Saturday afternoon as a patient. For years he had lived with a son, Oscar S. Baird Jr., Yeoman, Carroll county. He had been in impaired health for a number of years.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 o'clock at the Farmer Chapel church, near Bunnell Cemetery. Rev. Meredith Sprunger, pastor of St. Paul's church, northwest of Frankfort, will officiate and burial will be in Bunnell Cemetery.

Mr. Baird, who had been a school teacher the greater part of his life, was born in this county July 8, 1859. He taught in the schools of the county and in 1903 was named superintendent of the county schools. He served in this capacity for eight years.

He was the son of Hugh and Nancy Baird, early pioneers of the county. He was married to Ella Denison, of Hebron, who preceded him in death four years ago.
After relinquishing the school position here, Mr. Baird moved to Carroll county, near Delphi, remaining there until the death of his wife, when he came to the home of a son. He was county attendance officer in Carroll county for four years.

Survivors are three sons, Oscar of Yeoman, Byron of Detroit, and Merton of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Mrs. Mamie Blinn of Rossville and Mrs. Roy Gilpin of Kokomo. A sister, Miss Martha Baird lives on East South street, Frankfort. There are also 16 grand and 10 great grandchildren surviving.
