Doris Belle Coyle was born April 13, 1928 at Sentinel Butte, ND to George and Josie (Van Horn) Coyle. At age 8, the family moved to the Shevlin, MN area where she spent the remainder of her life. Doris was the oldest of eight, so she helped care for her younger siblings, and did some waitress work and childcare. Doris married Ralph Ellis on Dec. 8, 1946 in Shevlin. They spent 51 years working side by side on the family farm and raising three daughters. If friends or family stopped by, Doris would put on a meal, or at the very least cup of coffee and a piece of chocolate cake. Doris was all about love of family. She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting and going dancing with Ralph. In 2007, Ralph and Doris moved to a Bagley Apartment and Doris resided there after Ralph’s death in 2016 until she moved to Cornerstone Nursing and Rehab in January 2019.
She is survived by her three daughters, Bella (Ron) Jenkauski of Bismarck, ND and their children, Eric and Kari Jenkauski; Rose (Mark) Surdez of Bagley, MN, and their children, Scot and Karen Surdez; and Betty (Paul) Surdez of Bagley, MN and their children, Tanya (Ron) Engesether and Tammy (Lance) Sayler; her 10 grandchildren, Darian, Jaydi, Jacqi, and David Jenkauski, Bailey and Logan Engesether, and Sydney, Brooklyn, and Raleigh Sayler, and Spencer Solomon; her siblings, Otto (Eunice) Coyle, Delores Olson, Etta Halverson, and Roy (Helen) Coyle; her brother-in-law, Fred Halverson; her sister-in-law, Charlotte Coyle; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
