WILLIAMSBURG - Lewis Jared "Louie" Arnold, 76, of Williamsburg, died Sunday afternoon, Feb. 20, 2005, after visiting his wife at Tendercare.
He was born in Williamsburg Dec. 1, 1928, the son of Gaylord George Arnold and Lorena Mae (Herr) Arnold. On April 12, 1952, he married Helena (Kooistra) Arnold in Elk Rapids.
Louie worked as head shipper for Stromberg-Carlson for 32 years. He was also a farmer.
Louie was a member of the Northern Michigan Antique Flywheelers of Wallon Lake and the Northwest Michigan Engine and Thresher Club Inc. of Buckley. He liked to restore old tractors.
In addition to his wife, Helena Arnold, he is survived by his daughter, Connie (Joe) Pennington of Williamsburg; son, Glenn (Christine) Arnold of Williamsburg; and his siblings, Richard (Virginia) Arnold of Traverse City, Gaylene (Wayne) Clark of Traverse City, Darwin (Julie) Arnold of Naples, Texas, Hartha (Leonard) Hughes of Iron Mountain, Shirley Braden of Aurora, Colo., Pamela (David) Valleau of Traverse City and Bruce Arnold of Elk Rapids; a step-sister, Shirley (Don) Rabourn of Kalkaska; step-brothers, Larry Hilton of Georgia, Dennis (Lucy) Hilton of Florida and Wayne (Tricia) Hilton of Florida; a grandchild, Stacy Arnold; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gaylord G. Arnold, on Oct. 31, 1983; mother, Lorena Arnold, Dec. 14, 1953; and his step-mother, Norma Arnold, Dec. 24, 1998.
Friends may call Wednesday, Feb. 23, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, Traverse City.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at the funeral home, with Rev. Joseph Purdy officiating. Burial will be in Circle Hill Cemetery in Williamsburg in the spring.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
