Laura Nan Ross was born on September 25, 1926 in Kinder, MO to Asa and Ada Kelley Clodfelter. She passed away on April 5, 2019 in Cape Girardeau, MO at the age of 92. She was one of 8 brothers and sisters and grew up in a loving family on a farm outside Bloomfield. Laura was named after her two grandmothers, who she never knew as they died at an early age.

Laura Nan was married to Don Kendall Ross on May 28, 1948. Don & Laura made their home in Bloomfield. Don preceded her in death, passing away on June 12, 1998, shortly after they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were proud parents of three children. Their first daughter, Patricia Nan Marion , passed away in June 2017.

Laura Nan is survived by two of her children: Peggy LaDon Milner (Brent) of Pacific, MO, and Don Kelley Ross (Leslie) of Camdenton, MO, as well as her son-in-law Paul Marion of Mountain Home, AR.

She also leaves great memories with her 7 grandchildren: Julie Marion Haney (Sam), Tracy Milner Pitts (John), Jason Paul Marion (Tracey), Kelley Milner Elliott (Steve), Justin Ross (Alexandra), Gavin Summers, and Greyson Ross. She loved children, and many of her joys in the last several years came from the seven “great-grands” – Hayden, Drew, Maddox, Ada, Beckett, Aiden, and Owen. She is also survived by several special nieces and nephews, and by her special helper and friend John Bruce.

Laura Nan was the last survivor of the Clodfelter children, and was preceded in death by her sisters Ruth Hamlin and Mary Helsley, and her brothers Kelley Ward Clodfelter, Tony Clodfelter, Ray Clodfelter, John Clodfelter, and Amos Clodfelter.

Laura Nan was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield for over 60 years. She worked in the Nursery for many years and was active in the United Methodist Women organization. She had a special love for children and cared deeply about the elderly. Her many cards and letters will be missed by many. She loved her Cardinals, and her bridge club group. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She was a 1944 Graduate of Bloomfield Senior High School.

Prior to having children, she worked for the County Recorder of Deeds, the social security office, and as secretary to Attorney M. Walker Cooper.

After her children were grown, she went back to work for the Bloomfield R-14 School District, but her primary role and most important, would always be “just” as a housewife and mother.
