Mary Alice Davidson was born on December 22, 1869 in Sullivan, Illinois. She married Levi Abednego Mainard on January 17, 1887 in Sullivan. They moved to Cass County in 1894. About a year ago, her health began to fail. She was later taken to a Kansas City hospital and some weeks ago was brought to the home of her daughter, Bertha Zimmerman, in Belton where she died on May 8, 1942 at the age of 72 years. Funeral services were held Sunday at Christian Church in Garden City conducted by Rev. Charles R. Swofford. Burial was in Garden City Cemetery. Her husband passed away on May 10, 1934. She is survived by her daughters, Alta Alice Strobel of Wichita, Kansas, Bertha Ethel Zimmerman of Belton, and Ora Charlotte Smiley of Lee's Summit; her sons, Arthur Lonzo Mainard of Garden City, Chester Aubrey Mainard and David Cline Mainard, both of Osceola, Lewis Carroll "Ted" Mainard of Independence, and Otto Howard Mainard of Texarkana, Texas; twenty nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
