Levi Abednego Mainard, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Abednego Mainard, came into this life on November 18, 1867 in Sullivan, Illinois and passed from this life on May 10, 1934 in Garden City at the age of 66 years, 5 months and 22 days. On January 17, 1887, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Alice Davidson in Sullivan. They moved to Cass County in 1894. By occupation, he was a farmer and a splendid brick and stone mason. In his death, he leaves his faithful companion and wife; his children, Bertha Ethel Zimmerman, Albert Henry Mainard, Arthur Lonzo Mainard, Chester Aubrey Mainard, and Lewis Carroll "Ted" Mainard, all of Garden City, Alta Alice Strobel of Wichita, Kansas, David Cline Mainard of Osceola, Ora Charlotte Smiley of Lee's Summit, and Otto Howard Mainard of Chicago, Illinois; his step-mother, Samantha Mainard; his half brothers, Bird Mainard and Charles Mainard, both of Tuka, Kansas, and Chester Mainard of California; his half sisters, Gertle Bold of Tuka, Kansas and Kate Parker of Colorado Springs, Colorado; twenty four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at Christian Church in Garden City. Rev. D. W. Britton officiated. He was laid to rest in Garden City Cemetery.
