On March 30, 2019, Hazeline B. Hill, age 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, surrounded by her loving children. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on February 27, 1927, the daughter of the late Chester F. Blackmon and Zelma C. Blackmon. Mrs. Hill was the widow of the late Lucius F. Hill, Jr. who was a detective with the Florence Police Department.

Left to cherish her memories are her three children, a son, F. Leslie Hill of the home, and daughters, Cynthia Ann Huckaby of Florence, SC, and Lynda Kay Jernigan (Charlie) of Timmonsville, SC.

Mrs. Hill is preceded in death by two brothers, Waddell Blackmon and C. F. Blackmon, as well as six sisters, Carolyn Stewart, Thenia Baird, Sarah Bazzle, Margaret Holliday, Edith Aldrich, and Betty Greene. She is survived by two brothers, Donald Blackmon of Ocala, FL, and Steve Blackmon (Diane) of Fort Wayne, IN; six grandchildren, Ivey Jernigan (Danielle) of Timmonsville, SC, Eric Jernigan (Melinda) of Timmonsville, SC, Helena Rutan of Florence, SC, Benjamin Huckaby (Cortney) of Summerville, SC, Deborah Huckaby of Chattanooga, TN, and Daniel Huckaby (Megan) of Summerville, SC; fourteen great-grandchildren including Bentley Jernigan, Marcie Jernigan, Tristan Jernigan, Natalie Jernigan, Troy Jernigan, Isaac Rutan, Kayleigh Ann Rutan, Ava Zoe’ Rutan, Alaina Rutan, Isabella Rutan, Cole Huckaby, Alan Huckaby, Aiden Huckaby, Greyson Huckaby and Myla Skye Jernigan; three great-great-grandchildren, Connor, Chloe, and Kadance; as well as, a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hill was a secretary at Calvary Baptist Church for three and a half years and then went to work for DSS for thirty years until her retirement. After retiring, she loved spending time and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hill also enjoyed being involved in her church by singing in the choir, teaching, and participating in many other area of the church.

A special thanks to McLeod’s Progressive Unit and Regency Hospital staff on the 5th Floor. Also we have special thanks to Margie Bristow and Sandy Lis.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.

Family will receive friends from 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM on Wednesday at the Collins Life Center of Calvary Baptist Church.
