William T. Schoen passed away at his home near Gladstone, Nebr., Monday, March 31; (sic), 1947, at the age of 70 years, 3 months and 19 days. He suffered a stroke a week before his death but had been in declining health for the past seven years.
William Theodore Schoen was born December 12, 1876 in LaSalle, Ill., the third child of John and Emilie Schoen. When three years old he came with his parents to Jefferson county, Nebr., and he has since resided in the Gladstone vicinity. He was baptized in infancy and on March 22, 1891 was confirmed in the east Gladstone church.
On January 20, 1898 he married Ida E. Fett and to them four children were born.
Surviving are his wife; four children, Edward J. Schoen of Valparaiso, Nebr., William G. Schoen of Nyssa, Oregon, Emil R. Schoen of Fairbury and Mrs. Amanda Pointer of Nelson; 15 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Kapke of Gladstone, Mrs. Lena George of Fairbury and Mrs. Lizzie Miller of Spokane, Wash., and by two brothers, Fred of Fairbury and Emil F. Schoen of Meridian, Idaho.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the home and at the Ev. Reformed church east of Gladstone with the pastor, Rev. J. R. Kaiser, officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dychmann and Mrs. Paul Schoenrock sang. Pallbearers were Charles Kapke, John Johnson, Charles Starck, Paul Kujath, Emil Dux and John A. Schoenrock. Burial in the church cemetery.
