John M. Schoen died at the home of his son, E. F. Schoen at Gladstone, Nebr, December 19, 1928, at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 9 days.
John Schoen was born in Germany February 20, 1844. He came to America in 1872 and the following year he was married at LaSalle, Ill. Mr. and Mrs. Schoen celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1923. Mr. Schoen and his family came to Jefferson county, Nebraska in 1879 where engaged in farming. When he retired from active farming a few years ago he owned five quarter sections of land which he divided among his eight children.
Besides his wife he is survived by four sons, Fred A. of Powell; W. T. of near Gladstone; G. C. in the grain business at Gladstone and E. F. of Gladstone and four daughters, Mrs. John Molsahn (sic) of Munden, Kans., Mrs. John Kepka (sic) of Gladstone and Mrs. George George of Manley, Ia.
Funeral services were held at the Gladstone church Monday and burial was made in the Gladstone cemetery.
