Retired Fire Chief of the Moss Point Fire Department, Mr. Edward Franklin "Ed" Hudson, age 83, passed away Monday, December 24, 2018 at his home in Moss Point, MS.
A native of Jackson County, Mr. Hudson was born April 21, 1935, in Pascagoula, Mississippi to the late James "Jimmy" Hudson and Viola (Miller) Hudson.
Ed attended OVL Catholic School and was a graduate of Pascagoula High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Hudson worked as a firefighter with the National Park Services in California and Mississippi. He served with the city of Moss Point from 1979 until 2000. Mr Hudson held many position in the department throughout the years. He served as Moss Point Fire Chief until he retired. He enjoyed woodworking and made many custom pieces for family and friends. Ed's hobbies included fishing, cookouts, and sharing memories or telling tall tales.
He is preceded in death by his parents; James and Viola Hudson, his wife; Jackie (Morgan) Hudson, two brothers; J.T. Hudson and Bobby Hudson, and two sisters; Viola Hester and Joyce Price.
Survivors included his daughters; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday January 5, 2019 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Holder-Wells Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:00 am from the funeral home chapel. Moss Point Fire Department Honor Guard will host.
Per Mr. Hudson request, there will be no graveside service. His ashes will be interned at a later date.
