"Pioneer Passes
Jens J. Barsness, a resident of Cass Lake for 22 years passed away at his home here after an illness of several years.
Death came on Friday, August 2.
The funeral was held from the Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday, August 5th and interment was made in Pine Grove Cemetery.
Jens J. Barsness was born in Norway 76 years ago. He came to this country when a lad of six years and settled in Goodhue county. He came here from Douglas county 22 years ago. Last year he and his wife celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
He is survived by nine children six preceding him in death. They are: Martin Barsness, Canada, John, Melvin, Andrew, Edwin, and Harry, Mrs. Sam Johnson and Mrs. Ben Greenside and Lawrence all of Cass Lake and one sister, Mrs. J. Walsted of Appleton."
