Janice K. Hoeft, 84, of Genoa died Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center.

 

She was born February 16, 1934 in Aurora to Vernon and Ruth Gates.


Janice was a graduate of the Genoa-Kingston High School, Class of 1953. She married LeRoy Hoeft on January 5, 1957 in Genoa. Janice worked for various greenhouses in Genoa, Elgin and Kewanee. She then worked in food service for the Genoa School District for 17 years, retiring in 1998. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, reading and loved fishing and the outdoors- especially spending time at Moose Lake in MN and Lake Despair in Ontario. She was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Genoa- where she served as the Counter and member of the Altar Guild.

 

Survivors include her husband, LeRoy; three sons, Rick Hoeft, Roger (Kim) Hoeft and Randy (Valerie) Hoeft; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Della Evans and Barbara Eichler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Vernon, Lloyd and Bill Gates; and her twin sister, Judy Lawrence.

 

Her visitation will be on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 1:00-2:00 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 33930 N. State St., Genoa, IL.  The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM at the Church with Rev. Jeremy Heilman officiating. Burial will be at the Genoa Cemetery.
