Leon James Strong Obituary

Leon James "Jimmy" Strong, age 90, passed away March 1, 1988, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born February 23, 1898, Alpine, Utah, the son of Davis J. and Martha Healey Strong. Married Thurza Clark, January 27, 1926, in the LDS Temple. Active member LDS Church. Served three missions, and faithfully fulfilled many callings: as home teacher, high priest leader, stake high priest secretary, in the seven Presidents of Seventy, and in the stake Sunday school.

He worked at the Utah Farmers Association, Beehive Clothing, and as a school crossing guard for Salt Lake City. He loved children and was a kind and gentle man.

Survived by: his wife, Thurza; daughters and son, Mrs. Glenn (Lois) Snyder; Mrs. LaMar (Lenore) Nogle; and Clark L. Strong, all of Salt lake City; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services, Saturday, March 5th, 12 noon, in the McKinley Ward Chapel, 18863 South West Temple. Friends may call at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Friday, 6-8 p.m. and at the ward, Saturday, one hour prior to the services. Interment, Alpine Cemetery, Alpine, Utah.
