1937 ~ 2017
Our steady, ever-faithful dad, the anchor of our family, passed on from worldly cares May 21, 2017, surrounded by family. We who knew Clark Leon Strong never doubted his love for the Lord, his love for his family and his unconditional love for people. He laughed much and loved easily. He was our rock and our example of how to get through life with humility and strength.
Clark was born January 7, 1937 in Salt Lake City to Leon James & Thurza Clark Strong. He was the baby brother of Lois and Lenore, who adored him. He enjoyed a wonderful childhood, spending summers in Alpine, Utah, the beloved ancestral home of his parents. He graduated from South High, served in the East Central States Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and also served in the air national guard. He married his love, Carolyn Curtis, on December 4, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple. She died in 2014 and he missed her dearly.
Clark had a passion for anything with a motor and made a successful career managing fleet sales for several major car dealerships. He won professional awards and accolades, but his real focus was on providing wisdom, guidance and service to family, friend and neighbor alike. He served faithfully in various church callings and particularly enjoyed loving and serving his neighbors as an LDS bishop during his early retirement years.
He is survived by his children Jeanette (Mike) Little, Steve (Joy), Cindy (Jeff) Roundy, Carrie (Keith) Call, Curt (Leona), and Ken (Liz); 26 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; and his sister Lenore Nagle.
A visitation will be held Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 12-1:45 p.m. at the Butler 7th Ward church, 1355 E. 7200 S., Cottonwood Heights, followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Interment at Alpine City Cemetery. Online condolences at www.cannonmortuary.com
