Funeral services for Lester Curg Bybee were held at 2 PM Thursday, March 8, in the Cantlon Chapel with the Rev. Travis Stockham officiating. Neal Breshears sang "My Brand New Home" accompanied by Mrs. Juanita Smith. Escorts were Paul Pearson, Jimmy Bybee, Lavern Hood, Jack Bybee, Larry Bybee and Danny Noteware. Interment was in the Bower Chapel Cemetery under the direction of the Cantlon Funeral Home of Urbana.

Lester Curg Bybee, age 88 years, five months and 19 days, was born at Preston on Sept. 14, 1902, the son of Bluford and Elizabeth (Smith) Bybee. He died March 5, 1990 at Citizens Memorial Hospital, Bolivar.

Curg was a retired farmer and school teacher. He taught a number of years in the country schools of Hickory and Dallas Counties.

He received his high school diploma from Hermitage and graduated with a lifetime certificate from southwest Baptist College at Bolivar.

He was converted at the Niangua Baptist Church when a young man. In later years he placed his membership with the Methodist Church of Urbana, where he remained a member until his death.

He was united in marriage to Marie Davis on July 24, 1936. She preceded him in death on Nov. 24, 1980. Curg was also preceded in death by his parents and five brothers: Henry, Sherman, Hobart, Dewey and Homer Bybee.

He is survived by three sisters: Mrs. Raymond (Cledis) Stevens, Warrensburg; Mrs. Claude (Eunice) Hood, Polk and Mrs. Lowell (Gladys) Breshears, Cross Timbers and a host of nieces and nephews.
